JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN

JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN

HERE AT CONNECTION POINTE WE BELIEVE THAT CHILDREN ARE A GIFT FROM GOD >>>

As a church, we want to celebrate the life of your child alongside you and your family. Baby dedications in our church are a way we can take time and pray as a church family and agree together with you and your family to raise your child together under the guiding of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the next generation and in the future of your child’s journey to discover their own relationship with Jesus.

The Bible says that it is an act of obedience by parents to offer their baby to the Lord (Mark 10:13). It is a public declaration of their intention as parents to lay a foundation of Godly principles, with an intention to raise their child with Christian values (Deut 6:5-7) and to guide and educate their child in accordance with God’s work (Eph 6:14).

Celebrating a moment when parents bring their little ones to church to have our pastors pray over them shows this act of obedience.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NIV)

What is child dedication?

At Connection Pointe we believe in Baby/Child Dedication instead of infant Baptism. A Child Dedication is a ceremony in which believing parents, and sometimes families, make a commitment before the Lord to submit a child to God’s will and to raise that child according to God’s Word and God’s ways.

What is the difference between dedication and baptism?

Dedication is not a Baptism, and it does not impart salvation to the child. Baby Dedications are viewed as a confirmation between the parents and the church to raise the child in a Godly way until the child is old enough to make his/her decision in accepting Christ as their personal Savior. The dedication of children is taught in the Bible. As a baby, Jesus was dedicated by his parents. Jesus also bestowed blessings on the children (Mark 10:16).

Does this ensure salvation for my child?

As parents we cannot decide our child’s salvation for them. Each individual must make their own decision about their relationship with Christ. When a child becomes old enough to understand the concept of sin and their responsibility for that sin before God, they are then ready to make a decision about salvation. This age of understanding is not a pre-determined age, it is when the child has a true understanding and is able to express that understanding of their faith in Jesus as their Savior, even in a childlike way (Matthew 18:3, Mark 10:14-15, Luke 18:17). Parents can, however, lay a foundation by their teaching and example that will help a child be ready to make that most important decision.

How old should a baby be for a dedication?

Typically, Connection Pointe dedicates children from birth to two years old. Older children can be dedicated with a younger sibling or if the parents have recently made a decision to give their lives to God.

Are there requirements to dedicate a child at Connection Pointe?

No, we welcome any family to dedicate their child with us! We simply ask that the parents and family understand the reasons why we do this and are prepared to make the commitments to help their child to grow in their faith.
